COCKNEY legends Chas and Dave will close out Ampthill’s three day summer festival this year with a free gig.
Ampthill Festival Chairman, Richard Benson, explained: “We thought long and hard about this and agreed it would be good to thank everyone who has helped support and grow our festival, raising thousands of pounds for local charities in the process.
“This year we invite music fans, young and old, to enjoy Chas & Dave – and we are footing the bill.”
The band are known for their hits Gertcha, Ain’t No Pleasing You and Rabbit.
The festival, which runs from Friday July 3 until Sunday July 5 will see the band close Ampthill Gala Day on the Sunday, taking to the main stage in Ampthill Park.
On the band’s upcoming show, Chas said: “We’re counting down the days to playing in that beautiful park in Ampthill. It is an absolutely stunning venue and to play a free gig to the good people of Bedfordshire ain’t a bad way to spend a sunny afternoon. We can’t wait!”
They have enjoyed a recent resurgence after Jools Holland and Pete Doherty announced the pub rockers were key influences.
They have also played with Jerry Lee Lewis, The Beatles and Eric Clapton.
If you have a band or know a band that you think should play at Ampthill Festival Gala Day on 5th July 2015 then you need to fill out this application form >>> http://bit.ly/PlayGalaDay

Ampthill Park Proms
Plea for fans to buy last remaining tickets with just fortnight to go
AmpRocks is now heading for a sell out with organisers urging fans to buy tickets in advance … or risk disappointment.
Sales have already surpassed last year’s record of total 3,100 with no let-up during June.
And with just two weeks to go there are fears no tickets will be available on the night.
Madchester legends Happy Mondays headline at Ampthill Park on July 4 – supported by Fenech Soler – sparking “unprecedented interest” in tickets for the big night, which kicks off the three-day Ampthill Festival.
“We haven’t seen anything like this before,” admitted AmpRocks Chairman Ian Scarr.
“We thought last year would be hard to beat but 2014 has surpassed all expectations and more. There are still some tickets remaining but if sales are maintained at the current rate – and we always expect a sharp INCREASE in the week before – there will be a lot of disappointed people.”
“We have had interest from all over the country so we urge locals that if you haven’t got a ticket yet, please buy one as soon as possible.”
Tickets – priced £18 – are available from dr barbers in Dunstable St, Ampthill or online from http://amprocks.eventbrite.co.uk (booking fee applies online)
AmpRocks kick starts the 3-day Ampthill Festival weekend. Tickets are also available for Ampthill Park Proms. For more information please see http://www.ampthillfestival.co.uk
