Francesca Martinez is a multi-award-winning comedian, actress and writer. She has toured internationally with sell-out runs around the world including the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. She has also performed in Ireland, South Africa, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, and America.
Listed in The Observer as one of the 50 funniest acts in British comedy, she’s a regular face on TV, having starred in five series of BBC’s Grange Hill, in Extras opposite Ricky Gervais and Kate Winslet (in a role written specially for her), and on such varied programmes as The News Quiz, Russell Howard’s Good News, The Jonathan Ross Show, The Frank Skinner Show, Newsnight, This Week, and Free Speech (where she was voted most popular guest).
Her best-selling book WHAT THE **** IS NORMAL?! was published by Random House to critical acclaim, and has been nominated for the Chortle Comedy ‘Best Book’ Award and The Bread And Roses Radical Publishing Award. Among her future projects is a feature documentary called What The **** Is Normal?! in which she travels around looking for a ‘normal’ person.
She talks and writes passionately and humorously about her personal experience of living with physical challenges (she has cerebral palsy, but thinks “wobbly” is a lot cooler!) and about political affairs.
