Ampthill Concert Orchestra

Ampthill Concert Orchestra met for its first rehearsal in November 2004 at Parkside Hall, with its first concert being staged with the support of the Ampthill and District Rotary Club at England Hall, Silsoe College in May 2005. In the years since, it has performed concerts in Ampthill, Silsoe, Leighton Buzzard and Sherrington with repertoire ranging from Les Miserables and The Dam Busters to Beethoven’s Egmont Overture and Elgar Cello Concerto. The latter was performed with soloist Tim Gill who was then Principal Cellist of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra! This year will be their 5th performance at the Ampthill Park Proms and they will be accompanied by the tenor Bonaventura Bottone.

Bonaventura Bottone

Bonaventura Bottone (born 19 September 1950 in London) is an operatic tenor who has performed at many of the world's leading opera houses. He trained at the Royal Academy of Music in London. The Academy awarded him a Fellowship in 1998. He is described by the New Grove Dictionary of Opera as "a superb actor with a strong, lyrical voice" who "excels in comic roles".
